Step 1: Determine Your Battery Standard¶
Your vehicle is engineered for one standard. Installing the wrong standard means the battery won't physically fit or connect.

Never Assume Interchangeability
JIS and DIN batteries look similar from above but are architecturally different. Key incompatibilities: terminal type, hold-down mechanism, case height, and sometimes polarity orientation. Installing a DIN battery in a JIS vehicle (or vice versa) requires an adapter kit and terminal modification. Always check your owner's manual and measure your battery tray.

The 20% Margin Rule¶
Always add 20% margin above your calculated minimum CCA. Why: - CCA degrades 5–10% per year — a 20% margin gives you 2–4 years of comfortable starting - Cold snaps can be 5–10°C colder than "normal" winter temperatures - Aging oil and starter motors draw more current than new ones
